From St.Albans to Brighton Beach

Colette and Matt live in St.Albans and wanted an intimate wedding at St.Albans registry office - The Gatehouse. The Gatehouse is a beautiful building located opposite St.Albans station close to the centre of town. Once a Victorian prison and was also used as a war hospital. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens which feature 1840 siege cannon and the building still has the original doors which make amazing photo opportunities.

I photographed Colette and her bridesmaids getting ready at home and even popped next door to photograph the groom and his team getting ready as well.

The Bridesmaids wore stunning sea blue sequinned dresses that really sparkled in the sunshine and went with the beach theme so well.

Everyone got into cars and drove to the registry office in St.Albans and I captured the wedding ceremony in the Verulam room. This intimate ceremony was a privilege to capture. I was witness to every emotion and all the nerves in the room as well as all the love and genuine connection between the bride and groom.

After the ceremony we did a few photographs in the pretty gardens and with the Canon at the front and quickly ran across to the station to catch the train to Brighton.

It was one of the hottest sunniest days of the year and Brighton looked stunning in the glistening sunshine!

We did a few couples shots on the beach but it was very busy. We also grabbed a few couple shots on the balcony at the venue.

The Reception venue was called Soho House. It’s an Art deco themed decorated building designed by artist David Shrigley. Set on the sea front it has stunning views of the pier.

Food was served and there were plenty of cocktails and fun for the evening guests. After the speeches (which were mostly aimed at embarrassing the Bride) were finished the real fun on the dance floor began!
